An island visit turns into a project

Alba spends a summer visit with her grandparents on a Mediterranean island, exploring with her friend Ines. An animal in danger turns the holiday toward helping wildlife, giving discovery a purpose beyond seeing a sequence of attractive island views. Official Steam description

She and Ines start a wildlife organization and recruit volunteers. Helping inhabitants can win support for protecting the island. Encounters therefore connect animal discovery with community participation, making the town’s people part of the exploration rather than simply background characters. Official Steam description

From shore to town and castle

Beaches, the town, and an ancient castle overlooking it provide recognizable settings. Alba’s grandfather is interested in birds, adding another reason to look closely at wildlife. Movement among those places combines encounters with residents and the search for animal species. Official Steam description

Environment artist Jessie van Aelst names the fictional island Pinar del Mar. Mediterranean childhoods, birdwatching, and photography informed the project, while petition signatures give helping residents a progression system. The island’s natural and inhabited places belong to the same protection effort, rather than separate kinds of activity. Environment artist: Pinar del Mar

A landscape shaped by references

The art team studied Valencia, Náquera, Serra, and El Palmar for references. A Valencian barraca farmhouse appears in the farmland, giving the setting a specific regional influence. The studio also visited Rye Meads in Hertfordshire to experience birdwatching firsthand while developing the island’s wildlife-focused adventure. Environment artist: Pinar del Mar

The Spanish painter Joaquín Sorolla (1863–1923) influenced the palette, lighting, and mood. The team considered compositions so players could photograph scenery as well as animals. That choice gives the island’s visual design a practical role: a walk between wildlife encounters also offers views worth framing, from buildings to the surrounding countryside. Choose what to notice

The game invites finding animal species and doing good deeds at an unhurried pace. A summer outing can therefore follow wildlife or a resident’s need for help, while both remain connected to the effort to protect the island. Official Steam description
