Deliveries give the landscape a purpose

After the Death Stranding, Sam Bridges crosses a decimated America to connect isolated survivors through deliveries. The Eastern Region’s early delivery landscape links Capital Knot City and Port Knot City, placing isolated settlements and the ground between them at the center of exploration. Distribution Centers can serve as rest stops. The Social Strand System also connects players indirectly: within Chiral Network coverage, a porter may encounter equipment and structures left by others, along with paths shaped through repeated use. The route becomes partly a shared landscape, where other people’s work can affect what options are visible. Official Steam description Kojima Productions: Eastern Region

Cargo changes how Sam moves

A delivery begins with a balancing decision. Heavy cargo drains stamina and affects mobility, and placing it relative to Sam’s center of gravity matters. Auto-Arrange Cargo can reorganize the load, although some packages have orientation requirements. What Sam carries and how it is stacked affect the journey across uneven ground. A tilted map shows slope steepness, while connected markers chart a route. These tools help compare possible lines through the landscape before committing to them. Ladders, ropes, and ziplines offer different ways across terrain, so route planning can account for both the shape of the ground and the equipment available. Kojima Productions: traversal guide

Read the Eastern Region before crossing

Odradek scanning reveals terrain conditions, and red markers indicate dangerous deep river water. A Reverse Trike offers faster travel but uses battery power; rough terrain can make walking the better choice. The contrast means that speed is only one consideration when the route includes slopes or a river crossing. Kojima Productions: Eastern Region

Ladders and Climbing Anchors help with slopes. Canteen drinks and safe rest restore stamina, while Distribution Centers provide places to stop. These practical options give a delivery a changing pace: ride where the ground allows, walk where it does not, and use tools or rest to manage difficult sections. Kojima Productions: Eastern Region

Weather and shared infrastructure matter

Timefall ages exposed cargo containers, and Container Repair Spray addresses damage to them. Wider progression in the Director’s Cut also introduces Buddy Bot, jump ramps, chiral bridges, and cargo catapults. Buddy Bot is limited by Chiral Network coverage, and chiral bridges shut down in Timefall. These are later options, rather than the starting kit for the Eastern Region. The Eastern Region’s route choices are therefore tied to cargo condition, terrain, power, and network reach. Equipment left by other porters and paths worn through repeated use can offer alternatives within coverage, while a scan may change the assessment of a river or slope. Delivering between the two cities is an exercise in reading the ground and adapting the load and tools to it. Kojima Productions: traversal guide Kojima Productions: Eastern Region
