A vertical route through changing biomes
Jusant turns exploration upward, following an abandoned tower through distinct biomes. Arid, windy slopes contrast with bioluminescent tunnels, while changing flora and fauna give the ascent environmental variety. Climbing tools and stamina shape progress through these spaces. Official Steam description
The tower also holds evidence of an earlier civilization. Alternative paths can reveal clues, making a detour more than a different way upward. Exploration combines the immediate climbing problem with questions about the place and its former inhabitants. Official Steam description
Rope, pitons, and stamina
The designers describe a rope, three pitons, and a stamina meter. The rope connects at designated main-path sections; pitons create intermediate points that stop falls. Its changing color shows the available length, connecting route choice with remaining slack. Creative directors: climbing system
Swinging, rappelling, wall-running, and jumping extend the climbing vocabulary. Each trigger controls an arm in the original scheme, and resting while shaking out the arms restores stamina. Moving efficiently requires coordinating those actions rather than only finding a handhold. Creative directors: climbing system
A route can branch away from the main line
Branches away from the main route bring the tower’s history into the climb. A player can pursue signs of the lost civilization while passing between its contrasting environments, treating the structure as a place to investigate as well as ascend. Official Steam description
Falls do not kill the character in the designers’ account. A piton can stop the descent before the bottom of a wall, leaving positioning and stamina management central. The climbing setup makes failure part of working through a route. Creative directors: climbing system
Ballast brings the environment into the climb
Ballast, the companion made of water, can awaken nature along the way. That presence contrasts with the tower’s dry slopes and connects the journey to its living environments. The companion’s role sits alongside the physical work of climbing. Official Steam description
Ballast’s echo highlights destinations and points of interest, while awakened plants can reveal other paths. The companion supplies information and environmental help; the player still coordinates rope, stamina, and movement to reach what has become visible. Creative directors: climbing system
